March 15th Emergency Meeting Summary
The Victor City Council held an emergency meeting on March 15th. During the meeting the Mayor made the following announcement:
We are in challenging times. We must remain strong, supportive and optimistic. It is time for us to pull together as a community. Above all else, going above and beyond to make sure ourselves and our loved ones stay safe and healthy, realizing the seriousness of this issue and identifying the responsibilities we made need to take.
The past few days have been very fast paced and ever changing. I would like to thank our community leaders at all levels and want the citizens of Victor to know that we are prepared and continue to remain prepared. We have communication and emergency protocol in place and will continue meeting daily, seven days a week via conference calls to continue monitoring updates and sharing best practices.
I would like our citizens to know that difficult decisions have been made and will continue to be made to put our best efforts forward to help flatten the curve. We know that some of the decisions that we do make may not be right 100% of the time. With the speed of change that we face around this issue, you can also expect decisions to change quickly at times as well.
During times like this I cannot stress enough the importance of using fact-based resources. We have created an information hub on our city site that will be updated daily. Please use this as a reference. I know social media is a powerful tool, but also know problems and arguments do not get resolved by using it. I am asking the entire community to come together to limit personal opinions and instead concentrate on sharing the links and information made readily available by state and federal entities, and health care professionals.
We all know we live in a special community, a community that comes together in times of need. We also know that as we move forward, there will be folks that require help. Again, let’s do our due diligence in making sure our neighbors and friends are ok. Let’s identify who we can help and how we can help them. If you have ideas or are already in the process of planning such services, please let us know what we can do to help and share that information.
