Mayor and City Council
The City of Victor remembers Councilman AJ Linnell, who died Friday, April 10th, 2015 in a small plane crash in the Frank Church Wilderness of Idaho. A.J. served on the Planning and Zoning Commission 2012-2013 and on the City Council 2014-2015.
In honor of A.J. the A.J. Linnell Memorial Trail Fund has been established through the Community Foundation of Teton Valley. The A.J. Linnell Memorial Trail Fund will support construction and maintenance of biking and hiking trails in the Teton Valley that connect neighborhoods with the peaks and valleys that AJ loved. A cyclist, educator, city councilor, mountain guide and environmentalist, AJ envisioned a trails system that would provide easy access to the backcountry from downtown Victor, making the quiet and beauty of the wilderness available to all. Contributions are tax deductible.
Jeff Potter - email@example.com
Jeff grew up in Jackson Hole, enjoying the mountain lifestyle that the Tetons afford from an early age. After his high school graduation, Jeff left the Tetons for nine years to study business at Babson College and live in the San Francisco Bay area. Jeff and his wife, Amy, returned to Teton Valley in 2007 to start and raise their family currently including a daughter and a son. Jeff has worked in financial services, real estate sales and development, hospitality, non-profit directorship and is currently the Business Manager for Center Management, Inc., overseeing the operation of the Snow King Convention and Event Center in Jackson, Wyoming. Jeff and his family can’t imagine being anywhere else, and they look forward to the years to come in this corner of heaven we are so fortunate to call home.
Molly Absolon - firstname.lastname@example.org
Molly Absolon grew up in Charleston, W.Va., the second in a family of five children. Both of Molly’s parents set a precedent for civil service and community involvement — including her father's eight-year stint on the Charleston City Council — that inspired Molly’s decision to run for Victor City Council.
Molly received a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University and a master’s in journalism from U.C. Berkeley. She was drawn to the West by the mountains and spent 15 years teaching leadership and wilderness skills for the National Outdoor Leadership School. Throughout those years, she supplemented her income with writing and editing work and served as the school's publications manager, editing the alumni newspaper and preparing curriculum materials for instructors. The birth of her daughter in 2000 brought her outdoor career to an end and being a mother is her primary responsibility. She also works as a freelance writer and is a part-time copy editor at the Jackson Hole News&Guide. She is the author of numerous books on outdoor skills and has written a wide range of marketing and educational materials as well as news articles and columns. Her books include: Hiking and Backpacking with Kids, Basic Illustrated Winter Hiking and Camping, Backpacker Magazine's Trailside First Aid and others.
Molly lives with her husband, Allen O’Bannon, and their 13-year-old daughter. Like most of us who live in Victor, she loves to enjoy the outdoors, be it on foot, bike, skis or in a rocking chair on the porch with a good book.
Molly hopes to help lead Victor to further prosperity by helping to grow business, attract new residents, and fill in the empty lots that blight Main Street. She believes in fiscal responsibility, but also in investing in our future. Molly seeks to find alternative sources of revenue to help Victor's revitalization process. She hopes to tap into the community's entrepreneurs to find creative ways to stimulate the economy and boost the number of jobs available in the valley so our talent doesn't continue to hemorrhage over the pass every morning. She is an avid supporter of community events like Music on Main and the winter festival that bring people to Victor, provide customers for local businesses, encourage the arts, and provide opportunities for our community to come together to celebrate our incredible quality of life.
